Wok Racing

One of the weirdest sports I have ever heard of is Wok Racing. For those who don’t know a “Wok” is a large Chinese cooking pot. The racers proceed to race down the slopes of Canada at blazing speeds. The current world record for speed is held by Georg Hackl at a speed of 105.40 Km/H. If this doesnt seem crazy enough there is also 4 man Wok Racing where 4 people hook there wok bowls together and race down the course together.

A wok bowlThe course is made of ice and pact snow made for the least amount of resistance. The only bowls accepted by the World Championship have to be made in china and stainless steel. The World championship is held in either Germany or Austria even though almost all of the competitors live and practice in Canada’s frozen tracks.

Ice Sailing

The sport of Ice Sailing is suitably one of the coolest sports on earth. This is because it can only thrive in places that are “cool”. Ice Sailing is when you take a very small sailboat and attach skates to it and proceed to race it around a frozen lake. The boats can reach speeds up to 40 Km/H and take curves surprisingly fast. This is because of the low-profile design and the fact that the 3 skates are very wide from each other provide a very balanced design.
